It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Evelyn Ozelis. Evelyn was a long time member of the Knights of Lithuania from Council 36 - Chicago, IL (Brighton Park Area). During her many years of service to the organization she served as Council 36 President, a post she held at the time of her passing, Mid America District Vice President and Supreme Council President. Our deepest sympathies to her children; Kazys and Joseph (Robyn) as well as her granddaughter, Kristina. Also survived by many loving relatives and friends. Evelyn's Funeral was held on Saturday, September 23rd at Immaculate Conception Church, where she was a life long parish member. She was laid to rest beside her loving husband, Kazys, at St. Casimir's Cemetery.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Honorary Member Robert "Bob" Boris. Bob was a life long member of Council 102 - Detroit, MI. Below is a reprint of the obituary recently published in the Detroit News.
ROBERT STANLEY Boris Age 86. Formerly of Bloomfield Hills, MI and recently of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, passed away on March 17, 2017. Dear son of the late Stanley and Amelia Boris; brother of the late Vincent Boris. Robert is survived by a number of cousins, nieces and nephews, and other extended family members. Robert was a past vice president of Earl C. Smith Corp. An active member of the Lithuanian community he was president and honorary member of the Knights of Lithuania. Established and was a past-president of Aid to Lithuania and was a long time vice-president of St. Anthony's Lithuanian Church parish council. Memorial Mass to be held on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Divine Providence Lithuanian Church, 25335 W. Nine Mile Rd., Southfield, MI. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in Detroit, will be followed by a memorial luncheon. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Casimir Guild will be appreciated. Arrangements by Val S. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of fellow member, dear friend and Honorary Knights of Lithuania Member, Anne Marie Kassel. Anne Marie was a life long member of the Knights of Lithuania first in Council 5 - Chicago, IL (Northside); then Council 36 - Chicago, IL (Brighton Park); and finally as a charter member of Council 157 - Lemont, IL.
Our condolences go out to her family, especially her daughter, Georgi Macke (Ken); grand-daughter, Liza Macke; sister, Theresa Strolia, HM (The late Faustas, HM); brother-in-law, Paul Kassel (Dianelle) and many nieces and nephews.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of one of our most stalwart members, Estelle Rogers, HM. Estelle left us this past Friday, October 14th, peacefully at home. Her passing was a shock for all who knew her, most especially her family.
Our deepest sympathies go out to her family: Her son, Louis C. (Bernadine) Rogers; granddaughters Michele Rogers Scully and Janet Myran; great-grandchildren Drake Aiden, and Omar: sisters Julie, HM (late Albert) Zakarka and Eleanor Jundul, nieces Rita (Cass) Piorkowski, Maria, HM (Edward) Deksnis, Rita (Brian) Johnson, and Denise (Curt) Bonomo: great-niece Andrea and great nephews Alex, Brian Jr., and Justin; as well as many other family members.
The wake service for Estelle will be on Tuesday, Oct. 18th, from 3:00pm to 9:00pm at the Kosary Funeral Home, 9837 S. Kedzie Ave., Evergreen Park, Il. There will be a visitation on Wednesday, Oct. 19th, at 9:00am until the Funeral Mass at 10:00am at Nativity B.V.M. Church, 2700 W. 69th St., Chicago, Il. Estelle will be laid to rest at St. Casimir Lithuanian Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Masses will be appreciated. Estelle was a lifelong member of Council 112. Here dedication to the organization saw here elevated to Honorary Membership in 1985. One of her crowning achievements was being responsible for reorganizing the Knights of Lithuania Choir in the early 1960’s.

Maryte was taken from us all to soon on Sunday evening when she was struck by a car and tragically killed. Our deepest condolences go out to her Sister, Ona, and Brother, Jonas as well as the entire Sepikas Family. She will always be remembered for her kindness, love and caring for all she met. It is with great sadness and a deep feeling of loss that we announce the passing of one of the greats of our organization, Honorary Member, Faustas Strolia. Faustas passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2014, after a recent illness.
He immigrated to the United States from Lithuania, settling in Chicago, Illinois. He served as the Choir Director of the Knights of Lithuania Mid-America District Choir beginning in the early 60's, a position he held for over 40 years. It was early in his undertaking of the Choir that he met the love of his life, his wife of over 50 years, Theresa Pupanik Strolia. Together they raised their four sons, Paul (Agnes), Thomas (Laura), John (Chris) and Matthew. Later in their life they would welcome thirteen grandchildren.
Faustas was a gifted composer, musicial and director. During his career he would serve as music director for many Chicago area Catholic Churches, as well as serving as a conductor at several International Lithuanian Song Festivals in the United States, Canada and Lithuania.
His enthusiasim, love of music and his Lithuanian heritage earned him not only Honorary Membership in the Knights of Lithuania but many other honors including The Order of Merit for Lithuania which was presented to him by Lithuanian President, Valdas Adamkus.
Faustas will be waked on Sunday, January 4th, at the Palos Gaides Funeral Home located at 111th and Southwest Highway from 3:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. He will be laid to rest on Monday, January 5th, from his home parish of St. Damian in Oak Forest, IL.

The passing of a Knights of Lithuania Icon Elinor Ambrose Sluzas Dayton, Ohio
The Knights of Lithuania Mid-America District is saddened to announce the passing of one of the greats within our organization, Honorary Member, Elinor Ambrose Sluzas. Elinor was a lifelong member of Council 96 - Dayton, OH, from our Mid-Central District. During her many years with the organization she held many offices and committee chairmanships on the Council, District and National Levels, including serving as our National 1st Vice President and 3rd Vice President. Most recently she was instrumental in establishing the organization's Our Lady of Siluva Fund which was set up to spread the message of Our Lady through her apparition in Siluva, Lithuania in 1608. She served as the Fund's original president and was its current Vice President. Her love and committment to the Knights of Lithuania as well as her love of her Lithuanian ancestry earned her our organization's highest honor, Honorary Membership in 1994. Our deepest condolences to Elinor's family on her passing. She was truly an inspiration for our members and will be missed by all who knew her. We ask that you keep Elinor and her family in your prayers during this difficult time for all. Eternal rest grant onto her, oh Lord, and may Your perpetual light always shine upon her.
